Javier Navas - Vibráfono
Enrique Oliver - Saxo Tenor
Juan Galiardo - Piano
Bori Albero - Contrabajo
Dani Domínguez - Batería
The quartet led by Javier Navas is a visit to an authentic and modern jazz repertoire, a band where Javier’s vibraphone is develops with greater doses of expression and energy.
Since 2014, Javier has been working with a rhythmic section of proven musical quality. Juan Galiardo (Jerry Bergonzi, Joe Magnarelli, Dick Oatts, Dave Santoro, Gregory Hutchinson) on the piano. Bori Albero (Chano Dominguez, Lee Konitz, Dado Moroni, Barry Harris) on double bass. And Dani Domínguez (Jorge Pardo, Chano Domínguez, Perico Sambeat, Kase.O) on drums.
The group has created its own language through more than one hundred concerts in these years, performing a wide repertoire under the authorship of
Javier Navas; repertoire that is underpinned in 2016 with the arrival of Enrique Oliver to the tenor saxophone to complete the front line, turning the quartet into an
heterogeneous group of five members.
With two studio albums, Finally in my hands (2016) and Fresh start (2018), the group has toured the vast majority of Spanish geography, participating in
important cycles and festivals, highlighting the II Circuito Andajazz, the program AIE Artistas en Ruta, Festival OFF Jimmy Glass, Festival Jazz Abierto de Málaga,
Festival Internacional de Jazz de Lugo, Ciclo 1906, Ciclo Auditorio La Bilbaína, Festival Internacional de Jazz de Melilla, Jamboree Jazz Club, Jimmy Glass,
Recoletos Jazz Club, Festival de Invierno de Málaga, Elcercano, Filloa Jazz Club, Nova Jazz Cava.
Finally in my hands (Ambar Records, 2016)
is the first album of Javier Navas’s quartet, with the participation of Enrique Oliver. The repertoire includes own compositions, in a mixture between tradition and modernity, within the most current trends of contemporary jazz. The compositions allow interaction and protagonism of all the members of the band, in a kind of tour de force musical, where each member of the group is soloist and companion, protagonist and secondary, leader and sideman.
Fresh start (Autoedición, 2018)
it is the second studio album of the stable group of Javier Navas, it is presented as consolidation definitive of its own language, of a personal voice, within jazz in Spain, once again with the participation of saxophonist Enrique Oliver. The repertoire, with Javier’s compositions, reveals a modern, stylistic crossover language among the most current jazz, with certain contemporary elements, such
as soul, r&b or pop.
