Can you combine avant-garde music with old music? Of course you can, and the group of Carlos Cortes Bustamante gets it by far. Neat arrangements, hook melodies and completely new rhythmic proposals that have logic equivalent to lifelong styles. Here flamenco, jazz, Latin music, African groove, Andalusian roots, South American music and Spanish folk music are mixed with an amazing naturalness creating new musical forms of careful construction.
The concert offers a wide range of timbric contrasts wich evokes the deepest feelings through an hour of pure music. Flamenco guitar and Iberian Laud. Cuban four, transverse flute, trombone, piccolo and different percussions merged in a developed rhythmic language contrasting with a profound voice singing.
Carlos Cortes Bustamante is a versatile musician with a wide musical vision based on the convergence between the different cultures of which he has been a part.
Starting his musical education at the “Cádiz conservatory Manuel de Falla” at an early age, he graduated at the ES-MUC in Barcelona in the specialty of Jazz and Modern Music. He has lived and studied music in England, EEUU, Brussels, Barcelona, Cuba, Morocco, Senegal and Andalusia his homeland.
He has played and developed musical projects with great musicians such as Duquende, Silvia Pérez Cruz, Gerardo Núñez, Perico Sambeat, Jorge Rossi, Chucho Valdés, Javier and Mario Mas, Carles Benavent, Jorge Pardo, Paco Ibáñez, Eli-seo Parra, Aleix Tobías, Guillem Alonso , The Webb Sisters among others. He has played abroad in different countries such as Vietnam, Italy, Bulgaria, France, the Canary Islands, Hungary, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Cambodia as well as most of the Spanish territory.
The creativity added to the fresh-ness and strength of its melodies represents the hook of this impressive musical proposal that already enjoys of international recognition.
