Andalucía Big Band
A personal spectacle formed by pieces written by the big band musicians themselves. For this production, two of the most outstanding pieces of Javier Galiana’s “Trafalgar Suite” have been selected, to which are added to the two suites composed by Pedro Cortejosa: Your back and The Certainty of the Chrysanthemum.
Highlighting the intervention of Miguel López, band director, who this time will shake the baton from the piano stand.
What happened at the last Jazzahara Festival 2019 was also the absolute premiere of some of these scores, as part of the commitment in the exhibition of own works whose creation fortunately does not stop.
– The Certainty of the Chrysanthemum: Movements I, II and III. Composed and arranged by Pedro Cortejosa.
– Trafalgar Suite: Guajira del Palmar. Composed and arranged by Javier Galiana. The damn Biznaga. Composed by Javier Galiana and arranged by Javier Ortí. Bristle Caletera. Composed and arranged by Javier Galiana.

Andalucía Big Band
Created at the beginning of 2011 on the initiative of the musicians themselves and also managed by them, the Andalucía Big Band was born with the aim of being a stable orchestra that would serve to bring jazz to the public and publicize both the traditional repertoire for big band and , above all, the works of current composers. Its official premiere was within the 14th Jazz Festival of the University of Seville, a concert for the saxophonist Ramón Cardo as guest conductor, one of the most experienced Spanish musicians as director and composer for big band.
They have also played at the VI Festival Soberao Jazz de Dos Hermanas (Sevilla), in the celebration of the 1st International Jazz Day in Faro (Portugal), with Maria Joao and Mario Laghinha among other guests, in several editions of the University Jazz Festival from Seville or in the 127th International Contest of Music Bands City of Valencia that took place in the Palau de la Música, acting as a guest group, as well as in the Spanish Music Festival of Cádiz, Jazz Festival of Cádiz, Qurtuba Jazz de Cordoba or at the A Arte da Big Band Festival in Lisbon (Portugal).
Since then they have collaborated with directors such as Ramón Cardo, Ze Eduardo, Duccio Bertini, Bob Sands, Victor Mendoza, Chris Kase, Miguel Blanco, Miguel Ángel López, Arturo Serra, Jesús Santandreu and Bobby Martínez among others, as well as guest artists such as trumpeters Julián Sánchez and Iván González, singer Susan Sheiman, Perico Sambeat, Maria Joao and Mario Laginha.
“The members of the big band have matured during the last five years, by force of vocation and rigor, a solvent project well capable of facing, not only the classical repertoire, but the new arrangements and compositions of guest directors.”
